Charging Guide
WG+EV Rebates and Incentives
Sign up for this valuable EV rewards program open to WG+E residents. Simply set your car to charge between 8 pm and 8 am on weekdays and complete the enrollment process. You then earn a $10 a month credit on your WG+E electric bill for Level 2 charging or a $5 a month credit on your WG+E electric bill for Level 1 charging. With WG+E’s low electric rates, this could be like paying just $1/gallon equivalent of electric driving!*
You are eligible to participate if you:
- Own or lease an EV, either a battery electric vehicle (BEV) that runs exclusively on electricity, or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that runs on electricity but can also switch to gas/electric hybrid mode. You will need to show proof of the electric vehicle (for example: registration)
- Have a WG+E residential electric account that you use to charge your EV
- Charge at Level 1 (120 volts) or Level 2 (240 volts)
- Maximum enrollment is limited to 2 EVs per household.
To enroll in WG+E’s “Dollar a Gallon” EV Rewards program, complete the application form at the bottom of the WG+E website page here.
*$1 per gallon equivalent is based on an average EV efficiency and average miles driven per month combined with WG+E’s low electric rate and a $10 bill credit, as compared to an average compact/mid-size gasoline only vehicle. Actual cost per e-gallon equivalent will vary depending on vehicle efficiency and the number of miles driven per month. WG+E reserves the right to monitor compliance of vehicle charging times. If a customer charges their EV during the weekday on-peak time period, the customer will not receive the monthly off-peak charging incentive on their next billing cycle. Incentive eligibility will resume for the following month. This program is available as funds last.
Customers will need to renew their bill credit application by December 1st to continue to receive the credit for the following year. Customers who apply for the credit after October 31st will automatically be enrolled for the following year. WG+E reserves the right to change these parameters at any point. Please allow 8-10 weeks for processing.
WG+E is offering EV owners a rebate of $400 to help offset the cost of installing some or all components of a Smart, WiFi capable Level 2 system for higher speed charging of an electric vehicle at your home if you are currently charging at Level 1. Customers will then be eligible to enroll in WG+E’s “Dollar a Gallon” EV rewards program described above.
The rebate provided will be $400 or the amount of documented, eligible charging system expenditures, whichever is less.
If you do not have a “Smart, Wi-Fi capable charger” but still have a level 2 EVSE charging unit, you can still apply for and receive a $200 rebate .
A Level 2 charging system typically consists of a 240 volt wiring circuit from your house electrical panel to an optional NEMA 14-50 or similar outlet and home EV charging station (aka EVSE, short for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment).
The rebate may be used to pay for a licensed electrician’s services, electrical and/or the charging equipment.
Each household is eligible to apply for a maximum of 2 EV charger rebates.
To apply for WG+E’s Level 2 Smart Charging Rebate, complete the application form at the bottom of the WG+E website page here.
